Privacy Policy

Tricksy is a daily word puzzle. This page explains what the game collects, why, who receives it, and how to have it erased. Questions, or any request about your data, go to privacy@tricksy.games.
What we collect
- Your account — an internal player id we generate, the sign-in provider you use (Google or Apple) and the account identifier that provider gives us, and the display name it returns.
- Your time zone, locked to your account the first time you play, so the daily puzzle rolls over at your local midnight.
- Your results — for each day: which puzzle, how many guesses you used, whether you solved it or gave up, and how long it took.
- Analytics — Google Analytics sets a client id and a session id in your browser. Our server also sends Google Analytics one event when a puzzle is resolved (won or given up), tied to that session.
- Advertising — Google AdSense and its partners may set and read cookies to serve and measure ads, subject to your consent where it is required.
We never send your name, email, or any other directly identifying detail to Google Analytics.
Why, and the legal basis
- Running the game — keeping your streak, history, and time zone across your devices. This is necessary to provide the service you asked for.
- Analytics and advertising — your consent, where we ask for it (the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland). Elsewhere we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping a free game sustainable, and you can opt out at any time using the links below.
Cookies and local storage
The game stores a session cookie to keep you signed in, and uses your browser's local storage for tutorial progress and your consent choice. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set as described above. Where a consent prompt is shown, you can reopen it to change your choice.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people play and how they get on. How Google handles this data is described in "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services".
Advertising
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
Who receives your data
- Google — Google Analytics, and Google AdSense together with its advertising partners.
- Cloudflare — hosting, the database that holds your account and results, and delivery of the puzzle images.
- Apple and Google — whichever you use to sign in.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else.
Where your data is processed
Google and Cloudflare process data in the United States. Transfers out of the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
Your account and results are kept until you delete your account. Deleting it erases the account and every result immediately, with no backup copy retained.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable form. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Deleting your account
Open the ☰ menu in the game and choose Delete account and data. This permanently erases your account and all of your results straight away. You do not need to contact us, but you can at privacy@tricksy.games if you would rather we did it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Significant changes will be announced in the game.
